Looks like all the colleges in Boston are private except UMass-Boston and the Mass. School of Art and Design. I don't see much of a connection between a private school and a city/state.

NYU is definitely overpriced relative to what you get from the degree. It's a B-list school charging as much as the Top Ivies. GWU in Washington is the same. A B-list school (which isn't necessarily bad) with A-list costs.

Columbia is also a cash cow, but at least it's got an A-list reputation.

True, but both NYU and GWU are elite in certain sectors: NYU in the Arts (especially acting) and GWU in politics. When you add in the famous alumni factor in those fields and the city locations, the tuition is justified.

Chicago should get top 20 Notre Dame U. It is just outside a Indiana county in its official CSA.

NYU's an A-lister for most of its graduate school programs. The undergraduate programs and overseas campuses are the moneymakers though.
