Just an FYI.
IMHO, I know Princeton may fall under the New York CSA but I know from living in Philly that Princeton has always been considered as being more of a Philly institution, not New York.

It's fun to see people acting like they know more about a place than those who actually live there.
They look at rankings on paper (CSA) to determine things, when in actuality, it's not close to reality.
So yes, it does always turn into an MSA and CSA debate, because people don't know what they're talking about.
Washington and Baltimore are separate. Philadelphia and New York both lay claim to Princeton. For those of us who have actually lived in the area.
Dumb thread.
Any students who attend a university can lay claim to it, regardless of where they are from. It doesn't make sense to talk about most universities in terms of location given they aren't community colleges. Private colleges also aren't required to take a substantial number of in state students.
I wouldn't associate Princeton with either NYC or Philly.
Historically Mercer county has always been included in the Philly Metro . The U. S. Patent Office includes Mercer County in the number of patents granted in the Philly Metro and the Pharma industry also Mercer county is included in the Philly Metro media / Neilson . One can travel from Princeton via Amtrak and be on the Drexel /Penn campus in 30 minutes . It's 23 minute copter ride from Princeton Medical center to Childrens Hospital in Philly . Penn Med and Childrens and now Jefferson U. Hospital / Rothman are in contract with central and north Jersey hospitals for orthopedic services . So yes Princeton does have a strong connection to the Philly Metro . Litterlly Billions of $ for Philly hospitals by entering the central Jersey and New York health care market .
101 colleges and Universities within a 50 mile radius of Philly, Boston has 102 , San Fransisco has 34 and LA 139 . Philly schools of higher Ed. have awarded over 92,000 degrees last year . http://www.collegesimply.com/college...elphia/http://

I don't think the average Princeton student is in Philly very much when school is in session.
How exactly would you know? Do you live there?
Which goes back to my original point. Unless you live there or have prior experience, simply shut up. You see an arbitrary list created by a government agency and suddenly you're an expert.

Um, I can look at a map. It is 45 minutes from Philly. I don't see a connection to either Philly or NYC. Perhaps a weak one to Trenton. I don't think most of the students at Princeton are from Philly.
Why don't you state your opinion without seeking to litigate other people's opinion? I do not need your permission to talk about something on here. If my opinion is not valid, so what? This isn't important.
Are you a student or professor at Princeton? If not, then shouldn't you take your own advice?

Have you ever been a student or professor or otherwise lived at Princeton?
