Luda is the best thing to come out of Atlanta, but people down here barely rep him because he was born and raised a good bit in Illinois.
When people think Atl, they think crunk music (even though it’s not a thing no more), Travis porter type groups, swag and love and hip hop. To be fair, some might remember OutKast and the bunch, but they aren’t central to or the standard Atlanta artists look to.
When people think NY, they think Hot 97, freestyle/cyphers, Big, Jay Z and other legendary artists. The place that birthed hip hop.
Atlanta has a lot more mainstream artists these days, but that’s about the only edge Atlanta has.
Oh yeah, let’s not equate LA with NY here just because Tupac signed out west. Pac was called a traitor because he’s from the east coast. Born in Ny.
LA is not on Atlanta’s level with hiphop.

People think gangs when they think west coast, not hip hop. The hip hop is just attached to the gangs.
You have the Harlem Shake (Ny) and the Bankhead Bounce (Atlanta). Crip Walkin would be an LA thing, but it’s origin is almost solely gang related and not exclusively an LA thing the way the other two are products of just 1 hood within the respective cities.
The world probably knows Atlanta if they are new to hip hop but worldwide it would probably be New York even tho Atlanta producing a lotta producers and rappers

Luda isn't as popular now because he seen as older rapper, the Same thing that has happen with New York and it's older rapper, youngin aren't playing Busta, Faboulous, Jadakiss and etc. The hottest rappers to come out of NY the past few years are "Swag rappers" like Carti B, French Mantana, Young MA, Asap Mob, Desiigner

During the Time in the 90's and early 2000's etc Outkast and dungeon family and etc were " central to or the standard Atlanta artists look to." but times have change, not just for ATL but NY too. Which is again why most newer New York rappers are closer to French Mantana than method man.
I think New Yorker love that generalization as a ego pet, like as if New York is still pushing out lyrical rappers like Jadakiss and pretending most younger NY rappers now and days aren't just "swag"....... than pretend that just swag rappers just come from Atlanta then try to discredit Atlanta diversity in Hip hop history to fit there narrative.

Atlanta has been putting out platinum artists since the early 90's. over 25 years ago It's hardly anything new. in the 2000's Atlanta and other southern artists began to dominated like LA and the west during the early 90's but Atlanta case it never ended.
I actually think people who say "Atlanta" are actually familiar with Hip hop and know how the culture change. And people saying NY are either old heads who are irrationally bias or People who are not familiar with Hip hop one bit who oblivious to past 20 plus years that they just assume New York.

And literally the majority of rappers even from NY now and days use the same triplet lord infamous flow

Where is that 90's NY lyricism among the 2010's NY mainstream artist?
Mainstream wise New York has been putting out same level lyrical rappers as Atlanta for like the past 10 years. My point it has nothing to do with the South or Atlanta,
Atlanta and others southern cities historically had a mix between non lyrical rappers and rappers that could step up when times comes. but this has decrease in Atlanta as did in NY.
I remember a couple of years when this came out TI word play is crazy but this decade lyricism is not as appreciated, Only a few rappers such a kendrick, J Cole, "maybe Sean and Drake something" put lyrical context at a mainstream level. The idea of pretending New York rapper poop are gold, and down in Atlanta there haven't been lyrical rappers. Is a false narrative by NYers to hate on Atlanta. While being completely oblivious we live a social media world, trends memes and etc. Very different from the 80's, 90's and even 2000's.
