Woah. Touchy.

Look Kansas City is old and run down. Don't get mad at Nashville. Just go on a multi-decade building spree.

Kansas City isn't run down. Certainly no more so than Nashville. Seriously, Nashville has a LOT of trashy areas.
KC has been in full downtown rebuild mode for the better part of 20 years now. One isn't significantly better than the other in that area.

To be honest, I was defending KC's downtown which is absolutely not run down. Sorry, I got caught up in mixed arguments.
Overall, the city has problems, but I feel just as safe there as just about any large city, including Nashville. Maybe more so, but that could be a cultural or familiarity thing.
Nashville's downtown is fine for not being run down, but it certainly is a high crime city overall.
While the homicide rate is a little lower (still nothing to brag about), the overall crime rate in Nashville is virtually identicle to Kansas City's crime rate.
It feels that way too, when visiting.

No, not like Kansas City. Shootings have gone up in recent months, however.
