Both of these state capital metro areas are about the same in terms of metro area population. Both are within a pretty short distance from a bigger city/metro. Which would you prefer based upon these criteria?

Urban form

Suburbs

Food

Sports

Education(K-12 and college)

Location

Outdoor amenities

Safety/crime

Economy

Culture(i.e.-people/festivals/arts)

Keep in mind, this could also be a thread where people can offer information about one of the areas, as it could give others an idea of what each area has to offer versus strictly being a "back and forth/my city is better than your city" dialogue.

Urban form: Albany
Suburbs: Albany, all of our suburbs are pretty rural. In-parish suburbs are ok.
Food: Baton Rouge by a country mile
Sports: nothing beats LSU football.
Education: I'd hope that Albany has better schools than BR.
Location: Tie, Nola and NYC are both big attractions. I'd probably pick Albany overall though.
Outdoor amenities: Albany
Crime: Albany
Economy: not sure
Culture: Baton Rouge by a country mile or two

Baton Rouge and New Orleans together have a ton of potential, just have to get leadership to realize and capitalize on it. Our street grid is fairly large too, larger than most people would realize I think. At least everyone in Nola thinks Baton Rouge is completely suburban.
