The logic many on this forum have used in labelling Sunbelt sprawl cities as "boring" and "generic" can be used to write off Chicago as a poor man's NYC.

But it's not. The Chicago skyline (in the opinion of many) is better than that of NYC. It shines on its own...not in the shadow of NYC.
I think that Chicago stands on its own and isn’t a “poor man’s NYC” and that many love Chicago and their great skyline. It’s fabulous. Some posters statements here come off as defensive though, it may be warranted I don’t live on these forums enough to tell. Do you seriously think Chicago gets maligned skyline-wise and if so, who cares really it’s the internet. When I’m in Chicago the last thing that I’m thinking is NYC rather I’m admiring the Chicago sights.

Of course it's warranted, when someone calls Chicago, a "poor man's NYC." What do you think their intent is, other than to bash Chicago?

Yes Enean I didn’t mean to offend you or anyone. But those are just words from someone that writes before they think and no one believes that unless you’re a homer zealot and even then...

Yet that logic is never used. Why do you suppose that is? Perhaps the “logic” isn’t as logical as you think it is.

Is it really better at a street level however? most of the amazing shots of the Chicago skyline I've seen are taken from helicopters over lake Michigan. Whenever I was in Chicago, I can't remember being overtly impressed.
But the view of the Manhattan skyline from the top of some brownstone in Brooklyn, is just fantastic. Mostly because of the length of the skyline.
The best, by far skyline, in the world is in Hong Kong.
