New Orleans should have been considered. It has hosted several big events not to mention it’s a big tourist destination. Oh well I guess.

They were, they submitted a bid, but were not selected as potential venues in the 1st round, along with:

Birmingham
Cleveland
Indianapolis
Jacksonville

Regina

Unless Messi is playing the US. That game in Houston I believe was sold out between a Argentina and US.

I remember Copa from a couple years ago. I don't think any of the matches were sold out.

There is little doubt that Philadelphia will host a quarter final or better. For those that don't know 2026 coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States. In preparation to celebrate that the federal government has established a commission to oversee the affairs. It's mainly people from Philadelphia which has been tradition going back to at least the Centennial in 1876 when Philadelphia staged what has become known as the first official 'World's fair', the Centennial Exposition. We have hosted COPA and CONCACAF games before including the 2015 Gold Cup final. A year in which the US was upset in the semis. The final between Jamaica and Mexico still sold out with 70k fans. We also got shutout of hosting in 94' so let's hope it doesn't happen again lol..
