Any criteria you want. Comparing West Coast (California, Oregon, Seattle), Mountains, Midwest, East Coast, Northeast, Southeast.

Some obvious ones

-job market
-weather
-social scene
-sports teams
-size
-commute
-salaries
-cost of living
-housing market
-quality of life

Which region of the U.S. do you think is the best to live in and why?

Voted for east coast

-temperate climate with 4 seasons
-varied geography though not as dramatic as the west
-major cities including possibly the two most important cities in the country in NY and DC
-great job market, with ample jobs in nearly every sector you could think of (except maybe agricultural)
-top ranked universities, public and private, including all the Ivies
-high quality of life with generally great public schools (in suburbs), well developed infrastructure and walkable neighborhoods
-several cities with professional sports teams all within driving distance of one another
-a social, very diverse population without any of the "freeze" one might experience in places like Seattle

You have Northeast, East Coast and South. The East coast is both the North East and a large portion of the South.

A couple of oddities: You have East Coast, yet have South and Northeast. Could be a little confusing..... You said best regions in the U.S., but listed "Outside the U.S." as an option......... Having said that, I voted the South. That region has the best combination of economy, low cost of living, outdoor activities, and weather that I love.

The south has my vote greatest variety of cities in the country, warmer weather, lower cost of living, cleaner, newer.

I’ll go East Coast (in general).

Access to mountains, ocean, reasonable COL, four seasons, plenty of travel locations, etc...

I think it totally depends on your income bracket. A lot of the enjoyment which comes from living on the coasts requires good money. Midwest is good for an affordable lifestlye, and contains many underrated cities and natural wonders. Southeast could be great, but it seems like you really need to be from there in order to have a good social life.

I think the South and the Southwest are the best regions.I have lived in both....i used to live in Dallas and now i live in West Texas.I love the South and its culture.I chose the South and Southwest because Texas is at the crossroads between the two regions and Texas is my favorite place to live.I also like the Midwest but Oklahoma is the only place i would live there.I would possibly consider California after i become rich in a few years.I am also intrigued by NYC.I also like Florida.I like the idea of Washington State cuz of no state income taxes.
