Going to pitch a game comparing two different North American city's downtown cores and which one you would prefer and for what reasons. This can include downtown and/or midtown/uptown areas of the cities along with connecting neighborhood in the cores that border the downtown areas of the cities in discussion.
Start with these two cities, explain why you chose your preferred downtown and then next post states a different pair of cities.
I've been to San Diego's but not Seattle's. But from what I know about Seattle's, I'd imagine it's objectively "better" due to shopping option, attractions and pedestrian traffic.

Downtown Austin or Downtown Nashville
They are both nice and offer a good amount of entertainment, Nashville has a bit more charm with an older more original feeling downtown, but I really like Austin's waterfront and parks along Lady Bird Lake, I'll go with Austin.

downtown Denver or downtown Portland?
Denver, it just seems bigger, and more like a real place vs Portland which almost seems like a movie version of a real city.
I was gonna go with Buffalo by default (having never set foot in Newark before) but after some quick research I think I would go with Newark. The downtown seems to be alright and would offer easy access to Manhattan.

Downtown Dallas or Downtown Houston?
Aesthetically I like Dallas better, the new bridges over the Trinity River add a nice touch to the green parkland abutting a good looking skyline. On the ground d/t Dallas didn't do much for me, but that was back in 2010 so perhaps that may have changed. I think Dallas has a nicer looking downtown than Houston though.
