Saying Pittsburgh has better nightlife or shopping than Miami isn't and opinion, it is simply false. It is like saying LA has better public transportation than New York.
look at the poll. it clearly states which do you prefer. If you're trying to say that its not possible for people to prefer Pittsburgh's nightlife or shopping over Miami's, then you need to get out more. also, nightlife and shopping are only two of the factors, there were others as well. reading comprehension.

The nightlife thing is subjective (albeit laughable), but the shopping isn’t. Miami will offer you everything you find in Pittsburgh and more.
For shopping?? Not really. I think the point that was being made re: shopping is very legitimate. Miami's median household income is lower than Pittsburgh's. Whatever is available and needed in Pittsburgh is also available in South FL at low cost. And obviously the high end shopping is the differentiator for Miami.
Same for nightlife. There's dive bars and glitzy clubs, and everything in between. Miami has as many hipsters as Pittsburgh. It is a much larger metro after all.
Certainly, outdoor activities and such can be debated based on preferences, but I don't think shopping and nightlife can given the wide breadth of options available in the much larger metro.
Lol, you were supposed to realize that all of this is based on opinion. opinion is very rarely based on objective data, but instead on personal preference.
I swear to God that this site needs to change its name to City-Opinion, or City-Perception, from City-Data since data and things that are measurable are often not the focus.

In case you weren't aware, this is the forum section of a data-based website.

Also, this thread is which city do you prefer---not "which city is better?"
I prefer Pittsburgh, even though Miami may be "better" on many fronts.

Well, it is the forum section of the website; a big part of the purpose is to discuss opinions and preferences, and it's been like that for a really long time. it would be extremely boring and would have very few users if it was just people posting data.
