Summer in Chicago is fantastic, festivals, good food lots to do. If the weather turns bad, a ton of museums. Great nightlife.

I think I'd put Chicago, Montreal, and Toronto above the rest for almost all categories except for Boston having more sightseeing within the city. I remember Montreal seemed inexpensive when I visited. These three all have good and varied nightlife. Food-wise, I think these three are on top but have different strengths though not sure who wins on Mediterranean options. If budget is a concern, perhaps look into seeing which one gives you the best flight and hotel deals?

I was in Chicago a year ago tomorrow. I enjoyed the week I spent there, but didn't care for the humidity. Even though it was in the low 80s, I'd come back to my room just drenched in sweat after exploring the loop.

You should have went to the lakefront to cool off or a boat ride on it especially. But by August the lake isn't as strong a cooling factor unless breezes right off of it cover the region. I saw times the Loop was warmer then walking up N Michigan Ave or a change even in the Loop if off-lake breezes took over and even beaches downtown.

But in most of the Eastern half of the Nation. August will be the warmest to most humid month. June just gave us some heat-waves usually in August here in the East. I believe the Midwest too.

But Chicago is at its best clearly in summer with festivals and lakefront as assets and lots of tourist. A lakefront retained for public enjoying and not industry that takes on most aspects of ..... a city on a ocean. Just lacks the smell of a ocean but in aesthetics yes.

Yeah, Boston does seem like more of a compact city where you could see a lot within 3 or 4 days. The good thing about Toronto is it's only about 4.5 hour drive so would probably prefer to drive over some flight prices I've looked at.

I think we are leaning Chicago right now. Our only concern would be trying to fit a lot into 3 or 4 days since Chicago seems to have a lot of things we would want to do. It's not like we wouldn't ever go back sometime though lol.

Chicago’s pretty great. I will say that it might be interesting to go to another country, even a neighboring one, because of all the basic differences you might find from the flavors of chips to the speech patterns of people.

You need to add some Southern California cities to your list. August is prime SoCal beach season.

Ahhh Montreal. I have fond memories. Such a different city absolutely the most unique out of your options.

I'd say Chicago or Montreal. Runner Up Seattle. Winter comes on quick so enjoy the late summer there.

Definitely. It looks like there is a train that you can take from Toronto to Montreal, so might think of making it a week long trip up there soon.

Was actually thinking of San Diego in October possibly. Not exactly prime time beach season then, but looked to have some nice deals on hotels/flights then.

Yeah I've heard great things about Montreal. Definitely seems like a fun city with the nightlife too.
