Iíve had to have the cops intervene at a stop once when they noticed a panhandler wouldnít leave me alone. Another time I managed to get rid of one jerk by dodging into a store. I worked in downtown Portland for decades. The longer I worked there the worse it got.

And if you want to talk about violent riots in Portland, thatís nothing new there. Iíve been trapped on a bus trying to get home from work by protestors who decided they didnít want the passengers to leave downtown long before the present rioters came to town.

There have been times when I had to stay in my office waiting until the streets were clear. Many times over the past years these gangs from both sides toolk over and it just was not safe. Ironically, I did my protesting in the 60ís when I was living in Chicago but never violent as Iíve seen in Portland.

The OPís question was either Portland or Calgary. My perspective is from one who actually lived in Portland. Not from the news or Internet. The safety issues are some of the reasons I would not choose to live there.

Trying to argue facts with the left wing Gestapo is pointless.

Yeah. Attempted murder of 2 former left wing presidents today and our side is the Gestapo. Meanwhile the right wing sitting president is a self described nationalist. Perhaps you should bone up on your political theory before tossing labels so carelessly.

To be clear, I am not saying there is a complete absence of douchebag panhandlers in Portland. What I am arguing is that there are not constant bands of Antifa roaming the streets picking on old ladies. Big difference.

P.S. Godwins Law - I win.

You probably vote straight blue ticket Socialist democrat, hate Trump because he's a "Nationalist" (LOL), and clap along like a good trained seal watching late night indoctrination (oops, I mean comedy) shows.
Yeah you'd be safe in Portland.

Go to Youtube and type in "Antifa Portland" you will get TONS of results in the last few weeks. And "Antifa + any other city" you wont find much of anything in the last year.

And don't get me started on the Panhandling...Portland is an absolute disgrace.

Portland is a charming city with some great restaurants, shops, and bars. Calling it a cesspool is ridiculous.

I’m a 1%er who stayed at one of the best hotels in downtown Portland with my wife. We walked about 30 miles through the city streets during our long weekend there and had a wonderful time. If this so called Antifa was really turning Portland in to a cesspool, I’m guessing i would probably be one of their targets.

You’re attacking a city you’ve likely never been to because of some videos you probably first saw on Alex Jones’ website.

Your username is absolutely appropriate. You’re posting Fake News.

Definitely Calgary! At least the city isn't overrun by unemployed communists who claim to be "peaceful".
