IIRC, metro Honolulu has more than 1 million residents now.

Jersey City is not its own metro. It's part of the New York metro.

Those subway lines that have several stations in it exist mainly to get Jerseyites to Manhattan.

As of 2017 census data it doesn't, so it still stands in my book.

When and if the Chapel Hill-Durham light rail line will ever be completed, that MSA of 567,428, (should still be under 1,000,000 when completed) would have one of the best transportation systems!

Well it doesn’t have a light rail now and even if it did it wouldn’t have one of the best.

Respectfully disagree, but that's what makes the interwebs so magnificent!

I will vote for Portland, one of the frontrunners with light rail. Also a good freeway system (excepting I-5 from the Rose Quarter to the WA border). That said, Portland traffic is almost as bad as Seattle with the latter having a much less developed light rail system.

Jersey City is definitely a contender in this regard! I would also say Pittsburgh & Seattle

Seattle has far better transit usage.

True, but mostly due to a good bus system, which of course is at the mercy of traffic. But your point about usage is noted.
