Atlanta dominates AL, GA, TN, SC, and NC. That is not the majority of the South.

If you asked Midwesterner what the Midwest's dominant city is, almost anyone would respond Chicago.
I agree that Atlanta's sphere of influence doesn't extend to the entire South, but I'd argue that it has the widest sphere of influence within the undisputed South (which also extends to north FL and MS to an extent). That's a result of Atlanta being more centralized within the region and not located along the fringes and as a result, practically no one questions the geographic or cultural identity of Atlanta and the places within its sphere of influence. But at the end of the day, Miami really isn't in contention for the most dominant city within the South for obvious reasons.

We have gone over this. Atlanta is surrounded by a bunch of smaller states so it looks like it is covering a larger area. Despite Dallas and Houston influence extending into fewer started the areas of influence are similar with similar populations. The only difference project are confusing the South and the South East

Sure we've "gone over this" but you didn't definitively prove anything. It doesn't just look like Atlanta is covering a larger area; it really is since it doesn't bump up against another peer metro (meaning a metro similar in size, not one a fifth or a quarter its size) as Houston and DFW do. That does make a difference but it would be quite hard to quantify exactly how much of a difference.

I voted Chicago. There are other great cities in the region no doubt, but it easily takes the cake in influence, size, tourism, economy. NYC is a fair vote, but having to compete with the major metros of the BosWash sets it back a bit. D.C. has its own distinct position dominating government. I think that LA having to compete with the Bay Area sets it back too far. Miami and Atlanta are too close for any southern city to come out on top. I guess Houston is really in that southern mix too. It seems odd to group those three as they seem so distinct despite all falling under “southern.” Denver and Phoenix are really in the same region - the Mountain West - and are too close in scope.
I'm not seeing Miami's influence at all in Northern Florida, the Panhandle, or Southern Georgia...

Atlanta has further to go before it hits similarly sized metros, but its in all directions (Miami, DC, Houston, Dallas, Chicago). Dallas is relatively close to Houston, but it is much farther from any other metros of similar size from the northeast to, counterclockwise, southwest (Phoenix, Seattle, Chicago, which is two hundred miles closer to Atlanta than to Dallas, Mexican border).

"Similarly sized metros" is going off the assumption that Tampa, at 53% of Atlanta's metro population, is not considered similarly sized to Atlanta, although even then, Seattle would not be considered similarly sized to DFW.

This is silly. They cover similar areas with similar poulations. You can have your head in the clouds if you want to but this conversation is silly. No city dominates the South, not even 25% of the South. That's ridiculous, this conversation is silly.

ATL for the southEAST
Hou for gulf coast
DFW for that upper west South Central area

That may be true but when it comes to regional dominates as a whole it reads like this:

NYC- Northeast
Chicago-Midwest
LA-West Coast
Atlanta-South as whole/ people's first thought.

Houston/Typically dominates the Gulf coast but the top 4 are normally lead on a regional bases as a whole:: Note and disclaimer-- This has nothing to do with size, especially in the Atlanta case but somewhat Airport hub related as well due to Hartsfield Jackson... I can also get where you are coming from because you have Miami which is a special case in the Southeast as well and is a major hub to the Caribbean then if you want to push it further as far as Airfreight Memphis would lead that pack... Over all I would stick to the top 4 in regional dominates, IMO

Call it silly all you want but you haven't actually proven anything. Saying it repeatedly doesn't mean that you've actually done so.

Honestly it's hard to take someone seriously who argues that "Atlanta is hemmed in by Charlotte, Jacksonville, Montgomery, Birmingham, Nashville which is closer than you think. Atlants sphere of influence does not pass any of these cities..." and doesn't make a similar argument for Houston and Dallas. The bias is overwhelmingly evident.

Does this South include Texas or South Florida because I don’t see how anything in Atlanta dominates in Texas even at the smallest.

Those two will always be sticky subjects when it comes to the South ,, I don't think Atlanta dominates in anyway in those area's. Peoples minds just kinda jump as Atlanta being a hub of the south of sorts,, truth be told, they don't think about how big the region really is at first thought anyway..
