Good heavens, what a terrible set of choices.

I know that people will probably choose SF or Houston, but I speak for a vocal minority on this board when I say that I really don't like either location.

I'd probably choose SF based on weather alone; Houston is simply too hot, and the occurrence of hurricanes is far greater than that of earthquakes.

I believe I'd be very unhappy in either place. They simply both represent extremes of one kind or another, and either isn't my suit.

I prefer San Francisco, but I have nothing against Houston.

You may want to beef up the original post or I foresee this thread getting closed. I have to go with SF on this one... though I've only seen Houston through photos.

Being fair and unbiased...

Density: SF wins
Culture: tie
Diversity: tie
people: Houston
weather: SF
landscape: SF
job market: Houston
public trans: SF
family friendly: Houston
medicine: Houston
colleges: SF
k-12 schools: tie
politics: Houston
downtown: SF

I chose Houston because I found the people to be way more laid back and friendly

I've highlighted those things about your post that I find incredulous.

Houston, for culture? Really? If you like middle American culture and BBQ, I suppose so.

But public trans is the one that isn't debatable. One can live-- not very easily-- without a car in SF. The same absolutely cannot be said of Houston.

I meant to put SF for public trans, my mistake

All of the others are accurate though.

Houston, I have nothing against San Francisco but I couldn't see myself living there.
