I agree. Houston is no where near close to the amount of skyscrapers that Chicago has. I rather say as other stated that Houston is in the class of Dallas, Atlanta, LA, & Miami.

The Houston skyline is impressive, but pales in comparison to cities like Chicago and NYC.

Two totally different places. As others have stated, besides noticing that Houston proper is on track to surpass Chicago in population, we don't compare ourselves to Chicago. I'll just say this, to each it's own. Iv'e visited all the major Metro areas (top 10) in the U.S. with the exception of San Francisco. Chicago would rank last as far as places I would want to live.

Yes to each their own. As someone who lived in Chicago and then moved away, I still miss it. It really was the best place I've ever lived, personally.

Still chuckling that someone thought it was a wise idea to compare Houston's skyline to Chicago's.

That ... actually makes the article worse.

Houston has always been less concerned about this topic. Many Chicago posters here have feigned indifference, but those are merely efforts to mask the inner spite. Why else would there be 6+ pages of echo chamber, rather than an empty thread? The recent articles from the Tribune don't help the case either.

I saw in one of your posts that you also hate Boston, more than Chicago even. Chicago and Boston are two of my favorite cities, interesting and cultured. I couldn't make heads or tails of Houston when I visited there, but admit I liked the Pappas chain of restaurants, and like a good steak too.

Leaving the airport and seeing a gun rack on the back of a pickup truck was the signal for my wife and me that the job interview that awaited us there would make it easy to say no. To each his own, for sure.

Nope. No one in Chicago really cares about Houston, unless perhaps they lived there, have family there, etc. We don't view it remotely as a peer, nor does Chicago have anything in common with Houston. Chicago and Houston are nearly opposite types of cities. And, as far as posting...it's a message board. People are gonna post.

Chicagoans-- to an extent -- care about NYC's collective opinion of us. It's because they are the only city in the U.S. we would consider to be a big brother. No other city in the U.S. would remotely fit this bill. LA is a far flung sprawling city that we have nothing in common with. To Chicago, it's Hollywood, and not much more. Houston? Oil? Sadness and support for people in Houston who had to deal with Harvey? But really little else in Houston is taken of note. Houston's a fine city, but just not one that Chicago views as a peer in any sense.
