Atlanta has changed plenty since 2010. We've since then bounced back from the recession. Real estate is booming again and job growth in Metro Atlanta is at 2.2%. The national average is 1.7%. The cost of living in the desired parts of Atlanta is skyrocketing and continues to gentrify. People continue to move here and traffic is worst than ever. On a positive note Atlanta's population has become more and more diverse. The food scene has improved tremendously since 2010 IMO. In 2019 Atlanta is doing quite well.

I'm all in on the Houston train. Atlanta reminds me a lot of the DC area, for better and for worse. Haven't been to Dallas so I won't comment

Atlanta has become more popular, populous and prosperous.

Dallas has become more populous and prosperous.

Houston became more populous and to some extent prosperous.

I still feel that Houston's economy is not as diversified as Dallas and Atlanta. Also having another behemoth like Dallas and another city like Austin with more cool factor in the same state to some extent steals the visibility and lime light in terms of corporate relocations and economic activity..

To each their own. Gay men almost uniformly prefer Dallas to Houston as do people who party too hard (drugs are much bigger part of the party scene in Dallas) and life fancier things. African Americans seem to uniformly prefer Houston to Dallas as do people who prefer cultural activities.

He was talking about Austin when he mentioned "cool factor." Which is undeniable. But the aspects regarding Houston's lack of economic diversification tend to be overstated.

No I don’t think they are.

Almost half the jobs here are based on one industry. That’s not diverse at all.

"Overstated" meaning that the lack of diversity hasn't actually been as problematic as often indicated. At least for this time.

Here's my version of what these cities do best:

Atlanta-sprawl
Dallas-corporate relocations
Houston-humidity
