I love Chicago, but the winter is atrocious. LA all the way.

5. Much more integrated demographically in LA
Glad you like it out here. So do I.

Rustbelt icebox vs. entertainment capital of the planet? Gee, tough choice...

Nice! Most Chicagoans I've met love it out in LA. The ones that go back are the ones that can't break away from the old city mentality.

Disagree with number 1. I'd say they are about the same. The Chicago attitude may be less friendly, but at the same time we don't have mexicans and blacks in a gang/race war and highway shootings.

Agree with number 2 and 3.

Agree with 4 if by the ocean. Inland (and by inland I mean about as far in as Hawthorne and beyond)? No thanks. Too dry, too monotonous, too hot, too smoggy.

Disagree with 5. Though Chicago does have more ethnic enclaves, people get along pretty well here and can live side by side. Blacks are the main group that is segregated the most, the same as LA.

I guess it's just personal preference as the two cities are as far apart as two major cities can be...

Chicago is a great city but it's Los Angeles for me. Love its uniqueness, its old and new architecture. The weather is fantastic. The restaurant choices are from around the world and in abundance. Plus seeing beautiful flowers and plants in the winter is so nice.

I have been to Chicago and thought it was a wonderful city.

I've never however been to LA. Would love to go someday.
