And one subject to lake affect snow and blizzards. Who wants to deal with that kind of risk during the most expensive and popular sporting event in America in the prime of winter.

I'd be surprised if Nashville didn't get one. That said, I doubt it will become a recurring spot like Miami, New Orleans, Arizona, etc.

Well they might do it anyway cause NYS/Erie County paid $1B for the stadium. I’d argue it’s basically a bribe.

Worked for Indy

Gonna say Nashville, in the last 20 years there has been like one Super Bowl in a cold location. They prefer warmer winter spots. While Nashville isnt Miami or phoenix it is warmer than Buffalo.

I like Buffalo but do they have the number of hotel rooms to handle that type of event? I think Nashville has a better chance due to its size and location.

As for Minneapolis and Detroit, they're far bigger cities, with more hotel rooms, bigger airports, more corporate sponsors....
Again, the key was that it would be a regional type of deal not just looking at it from the lens of the Buffalo metro area. So, think about companies in the Rochester area or in southern Ontario/the Golden Horseshoe that would be sponsors as well.

People may not know, but about 15% or so of Bills season ticket holders come from nearby areas of Canada, including some from the Greater Toronto Area. So, the border is usually a non issue in regards to fans getting to the stadium.

Then, considering quite a few come from the Rochester and even Syracuse/Twin Tiers of NY & PA areas within a little over a couple of hours of the stadium, you are taking about 12 million people or so within a reasonable/2 hours or so drive to the stadium. To other posters, read my other post about perspective between the “areas” on the previous page.

With this said, if the new stadium was situated in the city of Buffalo and had a roof, the area would have had a better chance than it does now.

I don’t understand the regional question. 95% of tickets will be nationally released, only 5% go to the host team. Hotels in the same city are important, Rochester being 70 minutes away does not.

Rochester is only like an hour away. So, some may stay there.

My point is that people are only looking at the Buffalo metro area, which is small in terms of land area versus looking at the population within a certain vicinity in relation to Nashville. You can fit the Buffalo and Rochester metro areas within the Nashville metro area in terms of land area, but those 2 metros combined have more people by about 100k or so. Same goes for combining those CSA’s compared to the Nashville CSA. This isn’t even counting the potential Canadian market nearby. So, that was all I was referring to.

Nashville hands down.

It will be a delightful week for all.

I think that’s an interesting point, but probably for a different thread. People spending $10k for a game aren’t going to want to stay in a Days Inn or an hour away. Hotel rooms in the city will be a part of the equation.
