Its NOT picking your favorite local historic city or which historic city is the most beautiful or colorful.

I hope that before people say Santa Fe, Saint Augustine or XYZ native village for instance, they ask themselves truthfully whether those cities had more of an impact on the United States than Philadelphia, Boston Washington D.C. or even New Orleans. You may personally like XYZ native village more than Boston but lets be honest here.
You're right>good Post

In Philadelphia the Declaration of Independence was being signed while DC was little more than a marsh. I'd hardly put DC above Philadelphia in terms of being historic.

I can safely say that although NYC is very historic, it is not the most historic.

Philly, Boston, and DC (and even Richmond and other cities in the South) are much more so than NYC. Sorry.

Honestly nothing should be above Philadelphia in regards to US history. I'm trying to wrap my arms around Boston being ahead in this poll and the best I can come up with is sheer ignorance or the fact that Boston has a more romantic image about it nationally.

Yes Boston had its moments and highlights in the history of this country but it all unfolded in Philadelphia, this was the command center of the revolution. In effect Boston was an outpost, Philadelphia was ground central. Philadelphia is a Who's Who in First_ _ _ _ in the USA.

I wonder why Washington D.C. isn't either one or two.

Philadelphia had its moments and highlights too. It doesn't blow Boston away by any means. And Boston was hardly an outpost. Please.
