When I said they were similar, I was thinking about
-how they are both in a warm climate, with plam trees and turquoise water and such.
-their skyline similarities
-how they both have alot of tourism
I guess there's not alot of similarities, but there are a few.
I would rather live in Honolulu over Miami because there is much more natural beauty surrounding the area. They have mountains and tropical forests and volcanos, etc. It's not just beaches and water. But, thats just my opinion.
Both have tropical climates with palm trees and coconut trees. And are the only two ares where coconut trees can actually grow.
Believe it or not but there are some coconuts growing [slowly ] in SoCal. Newport Beach has a famous coconut tree just because it grows! Seriously, there are palm growers in San Diego that have coconuts [though most people would'nt bother on a very marginal tropical for California.
I have been reading these threads comparing Miami and LA and Chicago and New York to other cities, but had not yet seen one about Honolulu. I think Honolulu and Miami are very similar, and so they deserve their own thread. I personally would rather live in Honolulu, although the whole being isolated from the rest of the world thing would stink.
Great thread and great cities, however I choose Miami.
Miami, but only because I would get bored being stuck on an island like Hawaii.
