Seguin, Texas. Not only is it the home of the world's largest acorn, those arrogant bastards in the visitor's center won't hesitate to tell you about it.

Pretty baffling to me as well. Are there really that many posters who don't understand the concept of being overrated? Atlanta does not qualify.

I just have to keep telling myself it gets worth it in February.
Really, I'm not jealous of your weather. Ever. Not even when I'm buried in two feet of snow and it's 65 and sunny in SoCal. I truly enjoy having four seasons, I always have.

Oh spare me- this is probably why people are calling you arrogant (Also "No tourist would ever pick LA over NYC" - Really? None?). Fun Fact: A great deal of LA posters on this board (including me) have lived on the East Coast and know what your cities are like.

Yes NYC is way, way more "city" than LA and does definitely offer more than LA, but doesn't mean LA is not a "real" city and does not have more to offer within its city limits than any other city in the US (Chicago is definitely debatable though).
… But it's true. We DO view cities differently. Many CA cities are large towns on the east coast. You have more cities than we do, because instead of cities we have a bunch of smaller towns. The amount of municipalities in NJ alone is ridiculous. Five NJ towns could be one CA city, they're just defined differently. The West has a lot of space. State borders are bigger, and so are cities/towns. It's not good or bad either way, it's just fact.

I'm not doubting that LA isn't top notch. I know it is. It is probably the second ranked city in the US (I truly never know if it's LA or Chicago but with Chicago's recent crime rate I'll go with LA). You actually finally answered my question. That LA alone does have great things to do without including surrounding areas. Those are just bonuses to the city itself's attractions.

I was just trying to show you that in the NY area at least, the city is just the city. Other areas surrounding it are noted for being close to the city, not the other way around.

LA's great, NYC's great. We agree.

I like snow. I think it makes everything pretty, at least for a short time. It's a nice change and it's incredible to think how we can have such hot summers then such cold winters. It's kind of amazing, actually. I don't wish I lived in CA and I'm not jealous of their weather. The mere suggestion truly makes me laugh. I don't spend my days daydreaming about sun and Disneyland and cold oceans (the waters in Cali on average in the summer are actually about 5 degrees colder than the waters in Jersey ). I'm happy with where I live and the climate I live in.
