A lot. Other cities have matured, grown greatly not only in numbers, but in importance, and have produced goods and services that rival those of New York. Companies based in "inferior" cities have a lot of say in not only what happens in New York, but throughout the entire world.

Is New York America's top city? Most would argue so. Is it America's top city in they way you're making it out to be? No.

I actually do agree with KONY, though. It really is that strong, I mean it isn't as strong over the country like it was in 1860, when it was strongest. But it still drives the world economy, which is why Wall Street got their Bailout by the White House and the state of California and other states didn't.

If New York goes down, the worlds financial market is gone.

Queens is the most diverse county in the world by itself. Add on the greatness of the bronx, brooklyn, manhattan and staten island. I would much rather be in any part of queens than any part of miami
I wasn't saying the WHOLE borough of Queens wasn't exciting, I was just saying, I could see how someone would find a little suburb in Queens to be mediocre. There are diverse suburbs ALL OVER the Sunbelt. Doesn't mean they're exciting.

For instance, these houses are nice: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=...02.27,,0,16.94 But I would find them to be EXCITING. Once again, I'm not talking about the WHOLE borough. But in my opinion, they really are nice.

I don't see why Austin and Orlando are on the list. It's really not fair. It's like putting De La Hoya against Holyfield. Yeah, in that case De La Hoya is overrated.... but not against fighters his size he ain't.

Put Orlando and Austin up against more favorable sized cities like Charlotte, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, um um um um um um Columbus, etc.

Atlanta, San Francisco, and Seattle. Oh, and Portland. Phoenix. Hell, anything out west except Los Angeles.

Again, what makes Phoenix so overrated when it is constantly being bashed in these forums?

Um, that's easy, these forums don't constitute the whole universe. This being the Internet, there is a disproportionate number of disgruntled introverted contrarian voices (I mean that as a compliment) that you don't hear out there in the real world.

Of course even the popular people are starting to sour on the Sunbelt suburbia, and warm to funkier lifestyle centers like Portland. But that change is still in its infancy, led mostly by the young, single and weird. It hasn't gone truly mainstream just yet.

So in short, Phoenix is indeed overrated, though less and less so. The likes of Portland are beginning to take its place, and become increasingly overrated themselves.
