Hmm, when I think shopping mecca I think places like NYC, LA and maybe even Boston and San Francisco, but not Dallas and certainly not Houston.
In any case, shouldn't this be in the Texas forum?

I dislike the city vs. city polls as much as the next person, but what I scowl at more is when certain uniformed posters from the typical larger cities (who think they know it all) try to belittle other posters (and their cities) who don't live in New York, Chicago, etc. Dallas IS a major shopping destination. It has been that way for a long time. Neiman Marcus was founded and is headquartered there, as is the Dallas Market Center, just to name a couple of important places. Yes, Dallas is not NYC, which is the premiere fashion city in the U.S. and the world, but there is also life in the fashion world outside of NYC. BTW, Milan is 5th this year, but you certainly wouldn't know it if you actually went shopping there.

I started this thread in the general forums instead of the Texas sub forum because I wanted an unbiased opinion and not Texans arguing among each other. The moderator can move it if he/she feels that best.

If people don't think Dallas or Houston are upscale shopping cities then you simply haven't been to either.

The answer is... whichever is closer. They both have lots of upscale shopping. Most people outside of Texas don't even know this. If you are used to NYC, Chicago, LA... Houston and Dallas are the only two cities in Texas that will have the high-end stores and boutiques.

I'm sorry but you're not going to get your answer from other people in the general forum. They do not experience or see it everyday like posters from Dallas see their city and Houstonians see theres.

I live in Houston and like Houston more, but Dallas is clearly the winner. Austin is starting to get lots of upscale stores too.

People also don't know that Houston and Dallas were the first cities to get a couple of stores in the south and the US!

I do not care about either city that much but the winner is Dallas, it is more flashy/fashionable than Houston is and I live in Houston.
