1. Las Vegas (sin city, use to be cooler in the day, but it's still the highest level of cool)
2. New York City (the only true concrete jungle in America)
3. Key West FL (quirky, weird, all about fun in the sun and barhopping)
4. New Orleans (cajuns, voodoo, blues, jazz, amazing food)
5. L.A. (hollywood, stars, sunshine, surfing)
6. San Antonio TX (just a cool vibe)
7. Milwaukee WI/Porland OR (similar in coolness factors, microbrews, weirdness, cheap, good eats)
8. Memphis TN (home of Rock and Roll, BB King, awesome BBQ)
9. Cleveland OH (so lame it's cool)
10. Philly/Boston- (Revolutionary hotbeds, great beers towns, best sports towns)
Am I the only person who thinks Las Vegas is the opposite of cool? Gaudy, tacky, ostentatious, garish, loud, flashy.....those are all valid descriptions of Vegas, but cool is not one of them. Don't get me wrong I love a weekend in Vegas, but the Vegas mentality is so far from "cool" in my eyes.

Youre not alone. I hate Vegas. My wife's family lives there, but her mother and father are getting ready to move here. Her brother and sister will still be there, so we will still have to visit from time to time. I love seeing her family, but Im just not into Vegas at all.

I hear what you are saying, it's not for everyone....I don't even hate Vegas, in fact its a great weekend trip and I am down for some adult fun and debauchery. But its so contrived and uncool in my opinion.
I agree with most of your list, except Houston being up so high.
OK, OK, I put it there only because im from TX lol. But thats why I said "kind of in that order", just my top 3 are on point (with me anyway)
