For me I would say:

1. New York
2. Seattle
3. San Francisco
4. Los Angeles
5. St. Louis
6. Las Vegas
7. Washington D.C.
8. Dallas
9. Miami
10. Chicago

I agree that St. Louis is up there.

New York probably has to be also, at least the Statue of Liberty.

10. Boston

I think that is the order of how recognizable the city's skylines would be.

In no particular order

1. New York
2. Chicago
3. St. Louis (only b/c of the arch)
4. Los Angeles
5. Washington, D.C.
6. Las Vegas
7. San Francisco
8. Seattle
9. New Orleans (because of Katrina)
10. Miami

I would put Seattle ahead of Chicago. I put Chicago last because I ran out of cities and plus they are working on that gimmicky spire thing so I thought I'd give them a courtesy spot. If a tourist was looking at a picture of Chicago they would more than likely say "is that New York"? Boston doesn't make the cut at all. I don't think most people even in the U.S. know what Boston's skyline looks like or could name one single building.

NY - Empire State building, SF Golden Gate Bridge, Seattle - Space Needle, Boston.........................?

no way is Chicago 10th place (behind Dallas?!?!). I can see the other cities as close but it's gotta be a head of at least a few. I also doubt Seattle is that well known, maybe on the east Pacific Rim, but def. not Europe.

Also New Orleans is well known, but how many people can picture the skyline? Hell the Superdome might be the most recognizable landmark.

So much of that depends on where the "tourist and foreigners" are coming from. Someone from Europe would probably rank east coast cities a little bit higher, where someone from Asia would probably rank west coast cities higher. Someone from Mexico/Central America would probably rank southwestern cities much higher.

I think 10th for Chicago is being generous IMHO. Dallas has a way more unique skyline that stands out. Why would you believe Seattle is not known in Europe? I'd say most of Seattle's tourist come from Europe or Asia and all around the world.
