I've read several times on this board people saying Atlanta is the capital of the south. i highly disagree with this. I think the only cities that could call themselves the capital of their regions are New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles because they are so much bigger than the cities in their region. the south has many major cities and most of them are similar in size and importance.
do you consider Atlanta to be the capital of the south?

Not at all. Richmond, Virginia was and ALWAYS will be the Capital of Dixie. Don't care if it aint Deep South, either.
I believe that was Richmond. Atlanta used to be the center of everything and the largest city around, but Charlotte is giving both Richmond and Atlanta a run for that title. When flying Atlanta is still the most active, I believe. Being a big city is not usually the goal in the South. We are country people.
Blueva is right and we would not have it any other way.
Up north I'd always heard Atlanta was the "capital of the south". I think Texas is different from "the south" though. I've, for whatever reason, thought of Dallas as the spokesperson of Texas.

I think alot of people look at Dallas as being the spokesperson of Texas but i think that will soon change to Austin representing Texas more.
Not with those Dallas cheerleaders bouncing around everywhere...
i can't argue with that
