Honolulu. Honolulu and Miami shouldn't be compared since they are really nothing alike by any measurement.
I think many people still have a gross misperception about Miami. South Beach is not in the City of Miami, it's in Miami Beach. The City of Miami is, for the most part, very impoverished. The median annual household income in Miami is not even $23,500. The city is plagued by crime and corruption, much like it has been for at least the past 40 years.
The climate of Honolulu and Miami are different; I don't believe the temeperature has ever fallen below 53 degrees in Honolulu. It has been as cold as 30 degrees in Miami, and temperatures drop into the 30s and 40s every couple of winters at the very least . Honolulu has lower humidity, less rainfall, no hurricanes, and more moderate temperatures than Miami any given time of the year. Honolulu has nicer beaches and nicer people.
So, in short, I believe Honolulu is more of a paradise.

Regardless of their climate, they are both large cities with large city problems. Not my idea of a 'true paradise'.
Papeete, Tahiti...OK, maybe.

If you're white neither, some anglo's/haole's have trouble in either city being accepted and adjusting somewhat.
But I think Honolulu has much less problems than Miami overall; less crime, traffic, poverty, racial tension, etc... If it wasn't so isolated I'd move there but instead I'm going for something completely different and hope to move to Miami next year.
