New Jersey has a lot of great areas but the s***ty parts are definitely amongst the worst in the country.

Some cities in New England and Upstate NY that deserve some consideration and might not be immediately thought of:

Utica, NY
Holyoke, MA
Hartford, CT
Bridgeport, CT
New Haven, CT
New Bedford, MA
Fall River, MA
Syracuse, NY
Lawrence, MA
Brockton, MA
Providence, RI
Central Falls, RI (okay, so there have been NO murders this year but it's small)
Hyannis, MA (No, seriously. Cape gets hood.)

Hmmm, no mention of Rochester, NY?

Where I live the inner city of Rochester, NY is considered the most dangerous in Upstate NY. Way more violent than Syracuse....
