This may start an argument but i really don't care because im not getting involved.
I would say the worse place i visited was Fort Myers, FL... the list can go on about my bad experience there.
-Hot and humid and rainy everyday i was there
-got in a bad car accident
-Ran into some proud confederate flag shirt wearing people showing there racism to the n-hood they were in
-walked a mile and got asked for some change by 3 or 4 homeless people (i gave them money)
-got bitten by the most mosquitoes in my visit then in my whole life
-the one day i went to the beach, the shore was filthy with so many dead fish
- and 2 words "fire ants"
maybe i was at the wrong place at the wrong time but.. i didn't enjoy my visit with grandpa.
Even in my least liked city *cough* St. Louis *cough* I can find redeeming qualities. I go into any city hoping to like it, and this thread is a waste.
When we went, I was excited to see a new place but was very disappointed. It just seemed like a dirty, crime ridden area. The whole area around "Graceland" was a joke. Cheesy, neon, Elvis themed crappy motels in the midst of the ghetto. (No, I didn't go to Graceland, just drove by)
The only part I like was the "Peabody Hotel" downtown. Very nice.
The famous "duck walk" to and from the fountain was fun.
I wouldn't necessarily classify this as "worse" because I still had a good time. But I was very disappointed when I first went to San Diego. It's my fault for not doing my homework first, but I was expecting it to be more like Honolulu rather than Tucson. Not that there's anything wrong with Tucson, but when you're expecting Honolulu, Tucson can be a bit of a let-down.

Speaking of Tucson... my experiences there have left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Tons of little gangbanger-types running around, weird little homes on dust lots, lots of graffiti, boring downtown, and to make it worse they had I-10 blocked off (during rush hour no less) and routed on these streets that ran parallel with I-10. We sat there in 105 degree heat for over an hour, hardly moving at all. Just a sucky day overall. I went back two years ago and my opinion didnt change at all. lol Some nice areas, but overall a gigantic letdown.
I guess when you say city you mean a place with more than a couple thousand people? Otherwise...well I'd be typing all day...
This person speaks the truth though. One big ole crime ridden dump with tiny nuggets of goodness sprinkled in like peanuts in a turd. To further tarnish the image the city is in talks to turn The Pyramid into a freakin' bass pro shop. I haven't heard anything too recent about that but holy hell what a bunch of desperate money grubbers.

But anyway, you've got a point. If you go into a city with preconceived notions about that city, or cities in general, then it's hard to see the positive aspects of the city. You expect to not like it, then you probably won't like it.
