I think 11, not counting places that I just drove through like Jacksonville. I've been to Butler, PA, but not Pittsburgh (minus a drive through the city to see it), so I didn't count that either.

The following is the list of cities I have stayed at least one day & night in (20 of 51):

New York City
Los Angeles
Chicago
Phoenix
San Antonio
Detroit
Austin
Seattle
Washington DC
Cleveland
Minneapolis
Cincinnati
Pittsburgh
San Diego
San Francisco
Columbus (OH)
Denver
Kansas City
Honolulu
St. Louis

bold = lived in

I've driven through several other cities a large number of times and would know enough about them to make high-level comments on C-D, such as Indianapolis or Milwaukee.

Other notables or cities not listed from the list I copied:

Salt Lake City
Madison
Grand Rapids
Non-US (Beijing, London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Vancouver, Puerto Vallarta MX)

I consider myself fairly traveled given the fact that I don't travel through my work, and most of the places listed we traveled to by car, which is a completely different experience than traveling by plane (In my opinion). I clearly still need to visit vast swaths of the US, primarily the Northeast and the Southeast. Being from Minneapolis, the furthest East we ever went was Chicago and Detroit, where we had relatives, and the "thinig to do" was to travel West (the South was out of the picture completely at the time -- 80's and 90's). There are a few cities I very much resent not having been to, including:

Boston
Philadelphia
Miami
Las Vegas
Baltimore
Portland

Others I'd like to visit because they're huge and/or interesting places, such as:

Atlanta
Houston
Dallas
New Orleans
