I did however live in Texas for awhile, so when I drove to AZ, I closed my eyes and prayed for speed to get me through NM - I'd assume when you've seen other ArizonANs (that's what we're called) on OUR (I-10 that we share) road, they may be doing the same.
Well maybe you should come see us in Albuquerque..since you know so much about it. And its sprawl... haha.

Bradly, if you invited me to come to Albuquerque and showed me all of the things you speak so highly of, I'd return the favor.

I'll have to go with Albuquerque on this one. Tucson never left good impression for me. I really like Phoenix and Tempe, but not Tucson.

I choose Albuquerque.

I've been to both cities (Tucson four times) and am actually moving to Albuquerque next year
I currently live in Eastern NM, and am looking forward to being "in the action."

Although I don't think it is really possible to say one city is "better" than the other. Both are cool, unique cities. However, I find ABQ easier to get around, has a better art scene, better entertainment, and to me, better shopping and climate.

Tucson seems just a bit more "sleepy" I guess to me, wile ABQ seems more "edgy." I think a part of that is the fact that Tucson is so near to Phoenix, which is the giant of the Southwest region. ABQ, however, is relatively isolated and as such plays a greater role within NM. Albuquerque is also becoming much more urban than Tucson in many aspects. I try to make it to ABQ as often as possible, it's one of my favorite places. Tucson, though, is still a nice city.

I'm surprised at all the bickering on this forum, though. ABQ and Tucson actually seem to have a lot in common. They're both commiserate size, both have neat and large universities, etc. The arguments seem rather, um, irrelevant too. I don't think the amount of sprawl one city has over another or the number of high rises are great criteria on judging one over the other. For instance, DC has very few if any high rises, yet you rarely see it attacked for not having any! In the end, some like Tucson, some like Albuquerque. No biggie, they're both very cool cities, with a LOT in common.
