They were/are violent in LA, back in the crack days. 800 gang related homicides in LA city back in some year(can't remember) in the 90's. Not including LA County(Compton, Inglewood, long beach).

Chicago has definitely cleaned up a bit.

Chicago violent crime, 1991:
total - 3,092.5
murder - 32.9
robbery - 1,557.3
assault - 1,502.3

Chicago Violent crime 2007:
total - 1,178.7
murder - 15.7
robbery - 546.1
assault - 616.9

(no rape stats available)

As for property crime...

1991: 8,227.6
2007: 4,471.6

That's a big improvement. Sure Chicago has a much higher violent crime rate than LA does these days, but it's still made lots of progress...plus, Chicago has regularly had a higher violent crime rate than LA over the past 25 years to begin with.

I love old school hip hop.
90s there was all types of hip hop from happy, sad, gangsta, funny, chill, thoughtful, etc.

Now its all the same. I don't mind "gangsta rap" as long as its not the only thing out there.

True, but that's when I kind of stopped watching mainstream shows so that's what I was left with
