Some Northeast gangs were made by west coast leaders. In the Northern Jersey area a blood leader from Cali came and started his own chapter. That's why the blood population is so high in Newark, EO, Irvington, and Orange.

Also, DC has gangs. It has a population of Crips in the north east along with other gangs.

Gangs are as much about the money as they are about "family"... the vast majority of gang members do not have functional families or any family to speak of. What's wrong is that there's far too many kids wandering the streets that don't receive the guidance to avoid the pitfalls of gang life.

That being said, not all of the West Coast is like LA. Oakland/Richmond/San Francisco are very much hustler cities like DC when talking about the inner city black population. The only black gang center in Northern California is Sacramento. Hispanic gangs are extremely prevalent in NorCal though.

See thats two totally different things going on here. NYC did have gangs in the late 19th century but for the past few decades MOST of the murders in NYC were NOT gang Related.

Can't say that for Chicago where a majority of killings are still gang related. Definitely not all of them but a majority. Add to the fact that you have Chicago based gangs throughout the country (and the world). There's just a more visible gang culture in Chicago than NYC (or any other city for that matter except L.A.) that's been going on for decades. Nothing to brag about, especially with all the recent shootings going on, but it is what it is.

This thread is misleading . The OP could of made two threads . What city has the most gangs and what city has the most wannabes thugs.

I think it was explain in this thread over many times that LA and Chicago has the most gangs.

Cities like New Orleans , Detroit ,Miami and Fort Lauderdale is probably more wannabes thugs and drug dealers.

There is more drugs in New Orleans , Detroit ,Miami and Fort Lauderdale than Chicago or LA or most of the south west part of the US.

I can see Miami/Ft. Lauderdale but N.O. and Detroit having more drugs than Chicago or LA? MAYBE Detroit, because it borders Canada, but Chicago at least is a drug super-highway for the Midwest and U.S. Cities on the periphery like Aurora and Elgin are like illegal drug distribution centers where most of the regions drugs come through. Yes, most major cities have direct super-highways of their own, but Chicago is a logical distribution point. I'm sure LA is too.

Most gangs on the east coast and other coast are mostly from chitown and cali like folks and bloods which is why ny and jersey have a high number of bloods and LA gangs are influencing the nation even tho LA isnt as bad anymore the gangs just keep multiplying and still shoot kids in the streets LA/oakland/stockton/SF/san bernadino/fresno/compton/inglewood , with most of the weapons and drugs coming from mexico gangs in cali are full of drugs and ammuniton

Chicago is now riddled with gangs and drugs and is now murder capital of the U.S.

The Twin Cities have a surprising gang problem. Minneapolis has a solid concentration of the Bloods, Crips, Surenos 13, 19 Block Dipset, Tre Tre Crips, Tre 4 Crips, 4 Tre, 8 Tre, Vatos Locos, Latin Kings, GD, Lyndale/Lowry Boyz, East Side Boys and Ham Crazy while St. Paul has been struggling with the Hmong gang MOD establishing a home base in the area.
