It just looks dirty/run down every time I'm in Baton Rouge. Something is off about it....that sand castle look just doesn't look as ornate as other State capitols.

I'm biased to Oklahoma's Capitol Building, my home state, though it's nothing too special, lol.

My favorite feature of the Oklahoma State Capitol is the Native American statue, The Guardian, capping the dome. It's a composite representation of Oklahoma's 39 tribes.

I'm very fond of the Illinois State Capitol, it's such a beauty!

(I took all pictures myself.)

The capital grounds look dirty and run down? They are well maintained, like many other capital buildings.

Sand castle? You are talking about the new building I hope, and not the old one. The old one is a castle.
Anyways, when you see the interior and exterior in person it's a great building.

I'm from Texas and personally don't think our state capitol is the best. I've visited four and they go:

South Carolina
Georgia
Texas
Mississippi

All four are very nice - Half of Mississippi's was going under renovation at the time.
