You will be pressed to find a $20 million home in Buckhead. WPB has a $120M one that is 68,000 sq ft , Mara Lago, and many others in the 20-55M range... find that in GA.
I assume you mean Palm Beach...huge difference.
And yes, the western side of Buckhead most definitely has homes of that stature.

Yes, I'm confused on this as well. However, River Oaks is bordered to the east roughly by the part of Fourth Ward now considered Midtown and Montrose, so perhaps that's the skankiness they mean? I wouldn't exactly call that area skanky, though. More like sketchy, but only in parts and only at night. Or perhaps they mean Rice Military/Washington Avenue Corridor before the yuppies started moving in? Upper Kirby/Greenway border River Oaks to the south and Highland Village/Afton Oaks are southwest, then there's Uptown. At any rate, those areas are still pretty high-rent.

River Oaks old ranch and oil money. Atlanta, is nice but it is not that nice. River Oaks could buy Buckhead out of its back pocket. Please expand your hoirizns beyond Atlanta. I think Howard Hughes was born in River Oaks section of Houston.
Beverly Hills has 73 listings currently over $5 million dollars, 38 of them are over $10 million dollars, and the most expensive listing is $60 million.
All of Atlanta (city limits only) has 12 homes over $10 million dollars listed, and there are 67 homes over $5 million dollars.
So Atlanta (including Buckhead), with 500,000 people has less top priced homes than tiny Beverly Hills which has less than 40,000 people???? I think the South can do much better than that. Surely there are other areas where there are more top priced homes where the very wealthy live than Buckhead. I voted for Palm Beach. It is the only area I know of with a comparable number of very expensive homes.

Buckhead is old money with a little more sophistication attached, sorry. Not that there is anything wrong with ranching and oil. We simply don't wear cowboy hats to the Symphony or Niemans over here though. And most of our hoirizns are pretty expanded, thanks.

Apples to oranges. Consider which coast we are talking about and the difference in median prices. Not a fair comparison. Also remember that Buckhead is not just for the uber-wealthy, it is a much more democratic area than Beverly Hills. For a true reflection of actual listings (many of which are unlisted, private sale situations) you need to check Sotheby's.
How many estates in Beverly Hills are upwards of 30+ acres with old-growth 200 year old forests shading them?
