I said Minneapolis, because, seriously, when it is below zero for several months a year; is there even enough body warmth to perform criminal acts? Seriously?

So I was interest to see what the C-D Crime Index was for all these cities in 2007 and some cities surprised me, mainly SLC and Minneapolis. I was surprised they had the highest rates on this list. Pretty interesting to see Seattle and Portland have a higher crime rate than LA too. Perception is often different from reality and I doubt many people realize how safe and dangerous some of these cities are. This poll kind of shows that misperception as well.

2007 C-D Crime Index
NYC..................... 253.3
San Jose.............. 256.9
San Diego............. 339.8
LA....................... 356.6
Denver................. 409.3
Seattle..................470.3
Portland................ 497.3
San Francisco ........501.2
Boston.................. 524.2
SLC.......................669.7
Minneapolis.............791.3

Honolulu..............crime stats not posted on C-D

Back in year 2000 (or something like that?) New York changed so quickly, and now the crime rate in the city has got much, much better.
But Los Angeles... I don't know if it's getting better or worse... But they sure have high crime rates I heard.

Cool Nyc

How can people say there is no crime in NYC? If you go to the South Bronx it's bad, but if you go to the Village it ain't so bad so you can't trust statistics you see about NY. It's so diverse!
