Yeah well no crap, I just don't wanna accidently end up living in some ho-bunk, lifeless town. hence, "fast paced".

West Palm Beach does not fit that description. You're thinking of Port Saint Lucie (or most areas of Martin County).

Now that I know your situation, I'd say Miami or Ft lauderdale.
Not Palm Beach.

Miami it is. Since you coming from Chicago, Miami is a very, very diverse, cultured big city in Florida. It is urbanized, clean according to Forbes.com, and awesome nightlife. You got the metromover that serves downtown, you got the metrorail just like the L train, and you got the busses that serves all Dade county. It's hot in the summer, hot and warm in the fall, cool and cold in the winter, and then just right in the spring. Downtown is alot fun, South Beach is 24/7, Coconut Grove & Sunset are for college students, little havana and little haiti got their unique flavor and taste, & design district is all about the ART. There are move neighborhoods that are just awesome. It is an expensive city, though so be financially stable. but Miami is awesome, fun, clean according to Forbes.com 2008, & the best skyline I've ever seen.

Banx, this is a no brainer. Move to Miami. Don't listen to all of the haters. If you're 18 and you're used to the hustle and bustle of a larger city like Chi-town, WPB will seem pretty boring to you. The greater Miami region has alot to offer. You should consider Miami Beach if you want to live in an "urban" area with good restaurants, bars, clubs, ethnic diversity, and other amenities in a tight, compact, walkable area. North beach would give you easy access to the action in SoBe and would still provide a unique neighborhood with lots of good amenities. I also like the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood area for many of the same reasons (lots of diversity, great ethnic food, less congestion and crime than Dade, equal distance to Miami and West Palm Beach (actually, FtL and Hollywood are closer to Miami than to WPB, but still, closer to WPB than Miami is). I was born and raised in the greater Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas so if you have any detailed questions about neighborhoods feel free to ask.

You know that West Palm Beach is more diverse than the cities of Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood, right? West Palm Beach is home to a wide variety of different cultures and includes lots of Anglo's, Hispanics and blacks. Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood are mostly just black and white in population.
Also, in terms of traffic and congestion West Palm Beach is the clear winner of all three counties, as it has the least amount of that.

Yeah and west palm beach's crime is also a bugger you would want to consider. Not to mention it's BORING compared to it's competitors. He's coming from chicago, I don't think traffic should be much of a problem

I don't see Fort Lauderdale as being that much better than West Palm Beach or even better at all... I can understand why one would think living in Miami is superior because in many respects it is. However, Fort Lauderdale just seems like a more crammed, older, less diverse city than West Palm Beach.
