Hey PBCBoy, I know WPB is quite diverse just like most of south Florida. I got love for the whole tri-county area but I haven't been in the WPB area for a long time and honestly I'm not that familar with it. If you look at the stats you might be surprised at how diverse Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale are nowadays. Lots of Hispanics, a decent Black population, and a bunch of Eastern Europeans (I know, they're white, but they're different than your average white anglo-saxon protestants) too. I like the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood area because it's halfway between my family in Broward and Dade. I'd like to visit the WPB area soon because I have some friends in Palm Beach county so I'll get a better idea of what it's like. I've heard that the crime in the WPB area is crazy, is it just hype? How do the high crime areas in Palm Beach county compare to the areas in Broward and Dade, just out of curiosity? What are some of the parallels between cities in PBC and Broward or Dade? Could you compare some of them so I get a better idea? Thanks.
Races in Fort Lauderdale:
- White Non-Hispanic (57.5%)
- Black (28.9%)
- Hispanic (9.5%)
- Two or more races (3.8%)
- Other race (1.8%)
- American Indian (0.5%)
Races in Hollywood:
- White Non-Hispanic (61.6%)
- Hispanic (22.5%)
- Black (12.1%)
- Other race (4.0%)
- Two or more races (3.3%)
- Asian Indian (0.8%)
- American Indian (0.6%)
Races in West Palm Beach:
- White Non-Hispanic (46.0%)
- Black (32.2%)
- Hispanic (18.2%)
- Other race (4.3%)
- Two or more races (3.4%)
- American Indian (0.8%)

And yes the crime rate here is horrible. i think it might be close to miami's with the murder rate tho. PBC is definately worse than broward with crime.

I don't think summers usually consist of wearing a sweatshirt almost every single day. It has been freezing here for almost a month now.

West Palm of course, Miami has NO positives. Ppl tend to add other cities under the Miami label and they are their own cities. Ex. Coral Gables, Pinecrest, etc...

miami is the very best place to live on this planet. publix is just the icing. I don't know of any other places where I can choose to eat at so many authentic ethnic restaurants within five miles of each other anywhere else.
I won't even move to pembroke pines because it puts me too far away from my morning cafécito and pan tostádo.
