-You have to really want the urban experience to live in NYC. Once you're living there, it is city living and all that goes with it, 100%. As an urban experience there is no comparison, NYC is huge!

-Boston is a comparatively small city with a great urban character, but if you need to get away from city living, it is easy to do so.

IMO Boston's livability factor is much higher.
