The United States was like the world packed into one nation. If each state could match a country in the world, which would it be? I'll start it off.

- California=Australia (similar climates/vegetation, laid-back surf culture, casual) or Japan (dense population, mountains and coast close together, earthquakes)

- Washington=New Zealand or Sweden (climate and scenery, Seattle has a large Swedish descent population)

- New York=England (New York City and London, big world cities/financial capitals, similar in culture)

- New Jersey=Italy (large Italian population)

- Massachusetts=Ireland (large Irish population)

- Minnesota=Finland (MN has a lot of Finish descendants, and advanced technology) or Canada (friendly people, cold weather, similar accent)

- Wisconsin=Germany (German population and culture)

- Michigan=Poland, Greece, or Italy

- Pennsylvania=Poland? (PA also has a large Polish population)

- Illinois=France

- Florida=Cuba or Spain

- Georgia=South Africa or South Korea (sister relations to those nations), also Georgia (former Soviet Republic) (same name)

- Texas=China (large landmass, strong economy) or Mexico (desert, Tex-Mex population) or any nation that has a lot of oil

- Alaska=Russia (large, up north, cold)

- Louisiana=France

It has a large Greek and Italian population, especially around Detroit. Another match could be Netherlands, with a Dutch population. There is even a Holland, MI. Louisiana could also be a match for Netherlands with its below sea level ground.

so basically you're saying the country it matches with is what the population of the states are descendants of.

Afghanistan and Kentucky

Both have mountains and lots of caves

Both are the world's leading producers of illegal drugs - poppy in Afg and marijuana in KY

Both have lots of religious fundamentalists

Both have rural regions that are stuck in the middle ages

Both have largest cities that resemble war zones

Isn't Florida a heck of a lot more like Italy than Michigan?

Michigan resembles Finland or Sweden much more than Italy
