I've explored most of these cities and I'm definitely with you on Philly and Oakland-- both have a lot to offer. Birmingham and Cleveland, not so much IMO. The urban fabric is there but they seem to be kind of moribund and left behind. Baltimore I haven't explored but I intend to.

I agree on that because Baltimore is agreat city and you can't say it isnt until you visited

I will consider living in Oakland just because it is in the Bay area. The other four I agree with you. I am currently in Minneapolis and am tired of it. I want to move to some larger city with more retail/entertainment options.

With that being said, what cities would you least like to live in (city proper)?

My top 5 (or bottom 5) would be:

(1) Detroit
(2) Oakland, CA
(3) Kansas City
(4) Minneapolis
(5) Jacksonville

Orlando
Detroit
Houston
Phoenix
Jacksonville

Detroit is disgusting (rest of the country following suit quickly). It will be 100 in Houston and 97 in Orlando and Jacksonville for the next 3 months and I don't care about a dry heat, Phoenix is too hot. Although, unlike Florida where you are trapped, in Phoenix you can drive to the mountains.
