Good list but I'd add Wyoming to the free list as #1. I have never heard anyone from Wyoming complain about too many people or too much gov't.

The states with very high populations are strict for the fact that there are so many people. I mean the laws. If they allowed lots of personal freedom, you would have chaos with all the people in NYC.

Explain Texas then. Second most populated state and it allows a lot of personal freedoms.

Not when it comes to marriage and loving who you want. This was discussed earlier in the thread.

I think TANapples and Rachel84 are actually southerns trying to make northerners look bad. No one could really be as dense and devoid of logic as they appear to be.

Texas should stay out of adults bedrooms and NY should stay out of people's pocketbooks. I am not free when I can't choose what to do in my own bedroom and I am not free when I have to pay for others laziness and poor decisons(through high taxes).

Uhhh no, I was born and raised in NYC metro lol.

I don't know how high taxes limit personal freedoms. Our local taxes pay for the schools and town services.

They limit my FREEDOM to keep the money that I have WORKED hard for and is rightfully mine. I don't mind paying a portion of my income to support school, fire, police, and military services. I do mind having a huge chunk of my income taken from me and distributed to people who have made poor decisons and/or are lazy.

Town and city taxes don't go towards that. Anyway, I'll gladly pay high taxes for some of the best schools in the country and great services provided by the town.
