San Fran easily wins on location, geography, climate, and freak quantity.
Dallas at least holds its own on shopping and dining, and might actually edge SF out. Plus you don't need a million bucks to buy a home.
If all you know of Dallas is watching reruns of "Walker, Texas Ranger" you should not be voting in this poll.
I seriously doubt that.
If you call "shopping" having the nations highest concentration of shopping malls, then that's on you. In my opinion, San Francisco has a better display, and selection of shopping. You may not find many malls in San Francisco, but the city does have a few well establish shopping districts where you will find more there, than at any mall in Dallas.
I also think San Francisco beats out Dallas in dining as well. The city of San Francisco is home to many innovators of new cooking techniques, and it is also famous for it's seafood (particularly Crabs).
The only thing I think Dallas "edges" San Francisco out is medicine.
Pictures of typical shopping experience in San Francisco (usually much busier than what the pictures show).

One thing you don't do is underestimate Dallas in shopping. It has much more to offer than you think.
