City-wise, Indy only grew at 4.9% from 2000 to 2010. Just to name a few cities that grew faster than that included Madison, WI (11.6%); Aurora, IL (38.4%); Sioux Falls (24.1%); Columbus, OH (10.6%). So Indy was not the fastest-growing city in the Midwest by a long shot.

Metro-wise, Indy definitely grew fast, but you are ignoring more places like Des Moines and Fargo, which also grew at a faster rate than Indy. Des Moines and Fargo are both cities/metro areas in the Midwest. I don't remember the numbers for the Madison metro, but it grew at a pretty healthy clip, too.

Oh so NOW city matters. Thought it was irrelevant and MSA wise, Indianapolis grew the fastest dang man. It's math!

Austin, TX is unreal at 3.5% per year (or 55,000+ people)!! I can't believe THAT many people still find those places so desirable, in such amazingly large quantities!
Immigration from Latin America is a major driver for many cities like Dallas, Houston, Miami, Los Angeles etc. Most native born people are choosing the smaller sunbelt metros now like Charlotte, Tampa, Austin etc.

Oh c'mon. BRG stated that Indy was the fastest-growing city/metro in the Midwest. He has a habit of exaggerating or flat-out incorrectly stating things.

City-wise, he was incorrect. He was the one that brought up the word "city".

Metro-wise, he was incorrect. From 2000 to 2010,

Des Moines, IA metro grew at 18.33%
Fargo, ND metro grew at 19.73%
Columbia, MO metro grew at 18.62%

These are all metro areas in the Midwest that grew faster than the Indianapolis area because, percentage-wise, 19% and 18% are all both > 15%. Why? Golly-gee, because it's math!

This same argument was brought up a number if times in this thread: Best Cities in the Midwest with Pop. 200,000+

A number of people pointed out discrepancies with BRG's superlative claim regarding Indy...not just myself.

There is more to a skyline than one tall building. Yes, the Chase Tower is very impressive but the rest of the skyline is a disaster!!!

You like Indy's skyline better than Columbus', that's fine. After all, this stuff is very subjective. But my guess is that if most people were to get in their cars, go to Interstate 70 near Indy's airport and drive east thru downtown Indy and all the way to downtown Columbus, they would disagree with you. Columbus has a much bigger and better skyline than Indy. This shouldn't be a surprise because most major cities have a much bigger and better skyline than Indy!!!
