Are you kidding me...Michigan is in the lead? I take it because of jobs, because I'm sure most voters have never been here. I guess if you hate thousands of great fishing lakes, rivers and streams. Thousands of acres of woods filled with deer, bear, elk, moose....ect. Hundreds upon hundreds of miles of incredible white sandy beaches, then yes I can see why you would not want to live here. Actually its probably a good thing since most of us would prefer to not get as crowded as Texas, Florida, Calif. and so on....so yes our state does suck. Please stay away.

From least prefer to most prefer (added NJ because technically it is top 10, but will include NC too...and divided California because S is a lot different from N):

1. Texas
2. Florida
3. Georgia
4. Southern California
5. North Carolina

6. Northern California
7. Illinois

It's actually by 2030, not 2010. North Carolina won't pass GA by 2010 (and I'm not convinced they'll do it by 2030 either).

Little known factoid: NC has traditionally always had a higher population than GA. GA did not surpass NC in population until the 1990's.

IDK, either. Maybe these people have the answer:

Alpine, NJ, 07620 - MLS ID#2739427 - Single Family Home Real Estate - REALTOR.com® (http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/Alpine_NJ_07620_1089782608 - broken link)

445 Locust Point Rd, Middletown, NJ, 07760 - MLS ID#20831737 - Single Family Home Real Estate - REALTOR.com®

Listings like these go on and on all over the state. The current and future owners of these homes are definitely not feeling the recession.

New Jersey MUST have something to offer!

As for the OP, I wouldn't mind living in any of those states. But if I had to pick one, I would be Michigan because of the weather and economy.

it always cracks me up when someone disses a location for being too cold. Yeah, these same people probably would prefer living in a Sun Belt oven state where their entire lives rely on the air conditioner being turned on... often for far longer than half the year.

That's not living... that's being a slave to a machine.

What also boggles my mind is those who bash Long Island and Westchester County. I have met people who live in the soulless cookie cutter midwestern suburbs who claim that Westchester County is upstate New York.
What's wrong with upstate New York? You seem to be implying it's an insult.
