In the picture with the skylines, your mountains weren't showing, I think the're a little off in the distance. I know there are nice mountains up there, but you don't have a mountain sitting right in the middle of town with the town wrapping itself around it.

I like Tucson's mountains a lot, but they're only all around the city, not right in it.

Las Cruces with the Organ mountains has a wonderful skyline. The jagged edges of the Organs are spectacular.

True about Las Cruces..

Then Again Albuquerque has mountains running right alon the side too.. plus a skyline really makes it look nice, just a few more buildings and we will be right on the dot.

Yes, that's a very nice skyline. The mountains make a very nice backdrop to the buildings.

The other picture (3) was only okay because it just showed buildings with flat land behind them. Nothing beats a mountain in town or right outside of town.

The Organ Mountains are so spectacular, you would hope that they never try to obstruct the view of them. No outline of tall buildings could ever compete with the skyline provided by the Organs.

domino wonders:

> Why are we having a pissing contest between Albuquerque and
> El Paso on the Las Cruces forum?

Who knows? Sometimes people can't handle it when someone else has
a different preference than they do, so they get insulted.

I've only passed through El Paso, so I'd like to hear what it's like and see pictures.

I've got more familiarity with Las Cruces, but .... same deal as El Paso.

I really could care less if someone thinks one or the other sucks.

I think an Española picture thread should be started in the New Mexico forum and the subject and comparisons should be dropped from this thread. It can be periodicaly bumped when new pictures are added. I'd like more information about Española, also.

usmc el paso :
would it be possible for you to put descriptions next to those photos?

For me, they are just a bunch of random shots.
(At least, describe the really good one's.)

For people not interested in fighting about which place is better, you can see pictures of each place and descriptions in all these places:

Las Cruces is available via a search from the newmexico/pool:

It would look even better if they had some high rise buildings, say.... 6 of them at least under 20 stories. They could never block a view of the mountains. That's what some crazy people in Albuquerque still think that the precious Sandia's will get blocked although they (sandia's) still rise at 5,000+ feet from the current elevation the city sits on.

Ah, no, it wouldn't.

Poor Las Cruces has nothing to add here, as far a a skyline! However, it is a great little place, and there is a revitalization effort underway of the downtown mall, but it does not have a skyline or downtown to speak of. I think ABQ has a lovely skyline. That photo (thnx, bradly) of ABQ is spectacular.

Call me crazy, but I think if you want to learn more about downtown El Paso and Albuquerque you should go to the El Paso or Albuquerque forums. The Las Cruces forum does not seem like the appropriate place.
