It was built on oil money. The Price Tower Price Tower - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is unusual because it was designed by F.Wright and is his only 'skyscraper'.

and Ft.Worths aint that bad, I kinda like it
Midlands is certainly not the best for it's size. There are many cities and areas surrounding major cities with more impressive views. Not bad.. but impressive? Not by any means.

It's hard to compete against those suburban skylines that are part of huge metro areas. Midland's metro is about 250K, and when compared to other metros of similar size (and even many twice as large), it blows them away. One interesting thing is that if the oil bust of the 80s had occurred just a few years later, Midland would have several 500-foot+ towers, including one designed by the famous I.M. Pei.

I really like Omaha's and Des Moines' skylines, for smaller cities they are really nice, and you would think the metros were over 1,000,000 people.

Omaha is getting there. The metro is nearing 900,000 and with nearby Lincoln there are close to 1.2M in the area.
