They are both rapidly growing state capitals of Southern states. Austin's claim to economic fame is IT, while Raleigh's is biotech. Austin has UT, Raleigh has NCSU and UNC and Duke in close vicinity. Austin is the "live music capital of the world," while Raleigh really isn't known for anything artsy.

All true...EXCEPT - Chapel Hill/Carrboro does have a well-known live music scene (similar to the one in Athens), with James Taylor being the most successful artist to come out of the area. Raleigh also is home to a professional sports team...the NHL Carolina Hurricanes.

It seems like she is. I'll have to check her out. She is really beautiful.
Some of the best shows I've ever seen have been in Austin. That's why it's one of my favorite cities in the world! I don't know what it is about that city, but there's a vibe you get at a show in Austin that is unlike any other place, or at least that's just me.
