1) Boston- it's home to me but it's also a great city... the poster said, "FAVORITE" and not best and Boston is my personal Favorite... I love the crooked streets, history and modern culture of Boston.
2) New York City- The greatest city in North America
3) Quebec City- Feels like Europe, but closer to home and more affordable. Beautiful town
4) Washington D.C.- I love our capital city and would live there if provided an opportunity
5) Montreal- Beautiful and fun. It has a very unique culture
6) San Francisco- Gorgeous (natural and urban beauty combined perfectly)
7) Chicago- Big and beautiful. This is an underrated city.
8) New Orleans- Has its flaws, but excellent culture
9) Toronto- Another great city. staggeringly low crime for a city this size
10) Philadelphia- great blend of modern culture and historic significance.

*Edit*
Forgot 11 and 12

11) Seattle- The Pacific Northwest is beautiful I love the culture of Seattle and the Beauty
12) Portland OR- See "Seattle". Portland is a unique place and I wish I had more time on my visit

honorable mention:
Providence RI (too small to justify, but a fantastic city), Savannah GA, Charleston SC, Madison WI

Dallas and Atlanta are jussst outside the list but with these two including my top 12, I could easily live in any of them if I had the finances to do so.

Miami, DC, and San Fran are relatively small cities.
I think Miami is less than 40 square miles.
